I sheepishly told my friend that I had been drinking every day that week. Impressed, he responded, "Hey, if you can drink like that and stay skinny, why not?" So I feel like I should share my "secrets" to staying slim while drinking excessively. First of all, my low-carb diet and strenuous workouts play a huge part. I life weights several times a week, do on average an hour of cardio 4 days a week, and practice ashtanga, kundalini, and power yoga. Since I've built a great amount of lean muscle, my metabolism is high.
I absolutely love beer. Love, love, love, love, love beer. REAL beer, not light beer. Sam Adams, Guiness, Yuengling...But I love having a six-pack more--on my abs, not in my fridge. So I only drink beer about once a month, so it's a special treat. A couple years ago, I gained a lot of weight. I had thirty pounds to lose and knew I couldn't lose it while drinking tons of beer. So I switched to wine, which I love and which also happens to contain a natural fat burner. Oh, and so does green tea, so drink that, too, for a midday pick me up, instead of coffee. Wine drinkers are thinner than beer drinkers. It's simple.
I love mixed drinks, too, and I'm a big fan of vodka, maybe because I'm half Russian. Speaking of Russian, instead of White Russians (vodka, Kaluha, cream), I drink black Russians, which are just vodka and Kahlua. Less sugary options: orange flavored vodka, vanilla flavored vodka, and club soda. Tastes like a creamsicle. Vodka with sugar-free Red Bull. Don't drink too many, though, if you're proan to panic attacks.
In conclusion, work out, don't eat like a pig, and drink smart. Bottoms up! (Literally!)
